This is an old Ritter cord drive dentist drill. It is from the early 1900's. It comes with the foot control too. The info on the main motor unit with armature is as follows: Ritter Alternating Current Dental Engine. Volts 110 AMPS 1 Speed 4000 Serial no. 55296 Model C Patent 1906 - 1920. The info on the foot control says: Alternating current controller Riter Dental MFG. Co., Inc. Rochester NY, Model No. 55295 Amps 1 Volts 110 Patented 1908-1911 It also says, "Should be examined every 6 months see instructions under cover". I can see that the instruction paper is still intact under the cover. Now, This unit is in good condition. It seems that it was made for a more permanent mounting with the wires coming out bottom of counter maybe? All wires look good and are labeled. Same with the foot controller, wires look good and are numbered. The drill motor and armature pivots smoothly. all the pulleys and adjusters move fluidly. And most inportantly all the cords lare in great condition. The unit itself seems to have gone through a few paint changes maybe? If it was repainted cream color to match a desk or something it was done at the factory. No overspray. However you can see the photo w some of the paint is chipping away.
