THIS IS A SUPER RARE,HIGH QUALITY SIGNED 11.5x16.5 PROFILE PRINT BY WWII ACE ROBERT "SHORTY" RANKIN (deceased) of the 61st FS, 56th FG. THIS HIGHLY DETAILED PROFILE ALSO SIGNED BY THE ARTIST RICHARD GROH IS ON HEAVY LITHO ARCHIVAL PAPER. THIS PROFILE SHOWS SHORTY'S FAMOUS P-47 THUNDERBOLT "WICKED WACKER WEEGIE". SADLY I JUST FOUND OUT WE LOST THIS GREAT AMERICAN HERO ON MARCH 15, 2013. THIS IS SUPER RARE AND THE ONLY ONE I HAVE LIKE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHORTY IS CREDITED WITH 10 DESTROYED IN THE AIR, AND 5 DESTROYED ON ONE MISSION TO BEOME AN "ACE IN A DAY" . I commisioned Richrad Groh to do the original highly detailed profile back in 2003 and since than he has made them into high quality prints which he sells. I purchased a few of these prints and the last time I saw Shorty in 2006 at the Seattle Museum of Flight I was fortunate enough to have him sign a few. Richard is one of the greatest profile artists of our generation. During the 1960s and 1970s his amazing profiles graced the pages of Aero-Detail as well as many other books and publications.
