Very Rare sign of: "ROBINSONS & SONS LTD. GOYT SIDE MILL. of CHESTERFIELD, DERBYSHIRE. This sign was weighed in for scrap years ago when I worked in a Chesterfield scrapyard. Being from the area and knowing about Robinsons, I purchased the sign at above the scrap price that had been paid for it originally by my employers. Robinsons provided bandages for the casualties of WW1 and probably earlier conflicts including the 'Boer War' etc. They also manufactured all kinds of medical supplies in this field as well as the manufacture of cardboard boxes to the pharmacutical trade etc, etc. The site of Robinsons has mainly gone now, due to re-development of the town and surrounding areas. The firm employed a very large number of people from the area for many years and supplied goods worldwide. The scrap value of this plate is around £20 and although it has cost me quite a lot to put here on ebay, if it does'nt reach the reserve, I will donate it to Robinsons own small museum or to Chesterfields Museum.
