Auctiva's FREE Scrolling Gallery will enhance your listings.Silkstone/BinghamiteDescriptionA premium slab of Silkstone/Binghamite from Minnesota measuring approx. 3" x 2.5" and 5.2 mm thick. This highly desirable, old stock material was mined from the iron deposits near Crosby, Minnesota in the famous Cuyuna mining district. The parallel fibers of goethite/hematite produce a lustrous chatoyancy, similar to Pietersite or Tiger Eye in shades of red, brown and gold. It also goes by the name of Gold Silkstone or Cuyunite and makes spectacular cabbing stock. The deposit has been submerged/buried for many decades and since it is the only place in the world where it occurs the material has become quite rare. Flaws are shown as white lines in the final picture frame. Not polished. Shown wet. Weight = 74 grams.Payment PayPal is my preferred method of payment.
