This is an adorable cast iron doorstop in the shape of a child's rocking horse. As there are no markings on this doorstop we don't know who the maker is or when it was made. The rocking horse stands on a flat metal base which measures 10 ¾" long by 2 7/16" wide by 1/8" thick and appears to be some sort of strap iron. The rocking horse itself measures 10" by 8" x about 5/16" thick. There is a coat of black paint over the whole doorstop, which is about 90 percent intact. There is a small amount of surface rust on the base and around the ears that is shown in the photos. The detail in the horse is fantastic. You can see the outline of the muscles and the individual hairs of the main and tail as well as the English style saddle. We have never seen a cast iron doorstop with the shape of a rocking horse. This is the perfect doorstop for propping open the door to a child's room or as a decorative piece in that country home.
