This is a very rare accessory for the Rockola Model 1428. They made 2 styles (cream colored plastics and red plastics) Original Rockola TONE O LIER # 1608 This item comes from my late uncle who at one time started to restore it but never finished. It measures about 24 ish inches across by about 16 inches high. It has some issues as shown. As you can see from the pictures the mirror strips along the bottom are banged in but from what I understand carries this item in aftermarket along with a boatload of other parts to restore these and other jukeboxes and related. If I'm not mistaken they even carry the vanilla colored plates that wrap around the whole speaker. All of those plates show hairline cracks in virtually the same place on each. I've never lit it up as its still taken apart but from the looks of it the center inside is of the motion variety which has a motor on which the motion piece spins around. I think anyway. Dont know if the motor works either but heck 1 to 2 rpm motors run what 20-40 dollars? As you can also see the rim and top are in black and looks to be redone IE not original color like the bottom. I've seen this model in black in one of the jukebox books so you decide what route youre going to take when finishing restoration. Missing the rockola tag from the inside but anyone who has experience in these items knows this item. Not shown is the hanging chain but its in desperate need of cleaning/replacing. T is a good possibility to ship this item I might have to dismantle it a tad more to make sure its properly able to be shipped. But we'll talk about that. I've seen restored ones go in the 1200-1600 dollar range, even seen a price tag of 2500 on one but quite frankly I think thats a little nuts, not that that is the reserve but heck I'm not going to give it away either as from what I understand t is a handful of these floating around at best. One of the bottom- all intact even the sick looking cream color if thats what you call it. Two of the Top with the cover- Dusty, really dusty, the big black ring has an excellent finish on it (just dusty)and is about the only piece restored along with the little cover that holds the light bulb that as shown was started to be restored. In a book I happened to see recently (cant recall the name though) they have a picture of this speaker with a black finish , so maybe it did come in black, just thought I'd add that. I happened to be t when my uncle found this, It came out of a bar in sheboygan falls wi. that dated back to the 1800's, this was sitting in a crawl space along with some wurlitzer speakers but the owner wouldnt part with those - damn hey. That was many moons ago and since found has been sitting on a shelf in the workroom. sure would have liked to see it finished and running, especially the motion part of it. gotta tell ya, anything with motion rocks, pun intended Wiring LOOKS TO BE intact, but the speaker inside is in need of replacing, but then again who's want to listen to a speaker from back in the forties compared to the technological advancemnets of todays speakers.
