From Grace Hudowalski's Adirondackana Collection, Rockwell Kent's Artwork Christmas Card "Winter" from the 1940's. Grace met and became friends with the artist following his speaking at an ADK event she attended. The two shared a passionate opposition to development of Whiteface ski center and other proposed developments in the Adirondacks they they believed threatened the forever wild character of the region. This card signed "from Rockwell and Sally". From the Adirondackana Collection of Grace L. Hudowalski (1906-2004), a well known NY State official and media personality (1945-2004), Travel Promotion Supervisor for NY State Commerce Department (1948-1961), public speaker, historian, first woman 46er, 9th overall. Recognized for, among other things, her 60 plus year association with the Adirondack 46er climbing club. On June 12, 2014 the USBGN approved the official renaming of the high peak formerly known as east Dix "Grace Peak" in Grace's honor. Sale is by the Adirondack 46R Conservation Trust, a charitable endowment created by Grace Hudowalski and her friend Stephanie Bugden (1912-2004) to support programs encouraging responsible use of the NY State Forest Preserve.
