ROLLING STONES - HAPPY 7" 45 RPM ACETATE LATHE CUT TEST PRESSING USA ATLANTIC 19104 . UNIQUE ORIGINAL 1971 STUDIO REFERENCE DISC. I have been unable to find any reference to this item in any of the Stones sources I have checked, this test pressing acetate may well be the only extant copy. What is striking about this disc is the RAW, VIBRANT MIX, which I believe to be mono, and which certainly jumps out of the speakers. The timing of the disc is 3.04, which is several seconds longer than the LP. I do not think it is a different version, though the levels of the recorded sound suggest that it may well be a different mastering than that of the original LP. ACETATE pressings are, of course, renowned for the hot pressing sound quality, which this certainly has. Probably a unique one time mastering, this acetate came from the collection of a record collector with industry & radio connections in the 70's. I have never seen this item documented in any Stones reference work, it may well be a singular rarity. Condition is Visual VG+, playing condition is approx. VG+. The one sided label is in excellent condition. The label is definitely an original Atlantic Recording Studio label. It is permanently affixed to the acetate surface, and reveals a patina of age that reflects the 38 years since it was produced. The occasional bit of minor sonic read more
