ROMMELS GOGGLES These are a rare World War Two collector's item as worn by the famous "Desert Fox". Still in the original WWII issue packaging, dated and marked these are the same goggles as worn by German Field Marshall Erwin Rommel. These "Rommel Goggles" are guaranteed 100% original and dated 1942. Contrary to popular belief, these goggles were not and never were of German origin. They were of British manufacture and were originally made as anti gas eyeshields. They were also used as sun and sand goggles. On April 6th 1942 Rommel, inspecting the inside of the captured staff car of British Generals Neame and O'Connor found a set of these goggles. (Rommel, by Douglas Home. page 90) These unique, protective wrap around goggles became quite popular with Rommels troops. As liberated spoils of war these goggles were used by many Afrika Korps personnel in place of the standard, less comfortable molded rubber types. Many WWII photographs show these exact type of goggles being worn by various German soldiers. Unfortunately, many collector/historians were mislead by assuming that these goggles were of German origin but after much research it has been proven that such an assumption is false. The condition of this set is unissued and comes with six pair, read more
