Up for auction is a Roseville Clematis vase. The Clematis line was introduced in 1944 and features broad blossoms in pink tinged white of six or seven petals and a trailing ivy vine (the leaves bear little resemblance to Clematis leaves). The blossoms are on a tectured background of blue. The piece has the raised mark Roseville 107-8". The piece is in very good vintage condition without cracks, chips or crazing. It has a very small glazing issues at the base which is shown in the photos. The dimensions of the piece are 8.5" tall, 7.5 wide, and mouth opening 2.75". The Roseville Pottery Company was incorporated in Roseville, Ohio on 1/4/1892. As the popularity of the lines of stoneware and pottery grew, Roseville bought out smaller potteries and acquired new plants. The center of production was moved to Zanesville, OH in 1898 due to accessible waterways and an abundance of raw materials. Over time, the styles of the line changed with the fashion of the day. The last new Roseville designs were issued in 1953 with the Roseville facilities being sold in 10/1954.Up for auction is a Roseville Clematis Vase.
