Offered for auction sale is a wonderful and uniquely styled, molded, and decorated Handled Vase, Ferella pattern , tan color, made in Zanesville Ohio by Roseville Pottery in 1930, during its highly desirable Middle Period . It is Roseville # 497-4". This shapely handled vase has a crisp mold with an attractive background satiny glaze of mottled tans and pinks, with hints of black. Its outstanding features include its Art Deco Modernistic Angular shapes, its molded green and cream shell-like border pattern circling the top and bottom rims, and its cut-out reticular openings between the molded shells. Its extreme arched handles balance its chimney-like neck and rim, which flares slightly at the top. The shape and coloring of this vase allows this piece to fit with either an Art Deco , or Arts & Crafts styled decor. This vase stands 4 1/4" high, and is 6 1/4" wide at the tips of its handles. It sits on a sturdy 3 3/4" diameter base, and has a 1 3/4" top rim diameter. This entire piece is in original mint, excellent condition with no chips, cracks, hairlines, or repairs. T is underglaze crazing on the inside bottom, seen when looking directly down through the top opening. T is no crazing on the outside or on the underside. T are a few tiny drip glaze misses.
