This is a handsome little piece with lots of age on it. I don't know enough about photographs to describe the picture. I believe that most of these cases are commonly called daguerreotypes and are made of a type of plastic or gutta percha. It is about the size of an Oreo cookie and is molded in a very pleasing design. The case measures about 3/4" in diameter. The two pieces are threaded and screw very neatly together. When closed the case is less than 1/2" thick and it makes a very handy and secure holder. T is a tiny beaded edging on the case and t is a nick in one "bead" as you may be able to see in the picture with the case on edge. T is one spot of green on the metal surrounding the photo. T seems to be a couple of small flecks of dirt of some kind inside of the covering on the photo. I did not attempt to remove the picture to see if t is anything written on the inside of the case. The photo may have been removed at an earlier time, letting in some foreign substance. Buyer pays all shipping costs.
