BUY IT NOW.. department on ebay ...... for interesting glass , pottery , oil paintings , lamps , dolls toys advertising , china , primitives , vintage clothing , antiques ...... and more .... please check out our other listings Hi again ............ these old boxes date to at least the 1800's ..... and the one with the screw lid may be much older ..... i think it was used as a tea caddy and it could easily date to the revolution of 1776 ....... it is so hard to date these kinds of items ...... fabulous early decoration i am sending along the snuff box just because they came together at the same estate auction ...... it is much newer and has a date carved into the lid of 1914 ..... back to the jewel of the listing ....... the lid still screws onto the bowl part ...... there is some chips ( 2 actually ) on the base that are quite old and only give this ancient treen box character .... very unusual that it has so many colors of paint in the decoration ..... i see black and white , red and yellow , also even blue ..... there is wear to all or the paint ..... but frankly for the age it is in wonderful condition ..... the box measures .... 2 5/8 inches tall ...... 11 inches around ..... the lid is domed and the sides and base are flared in a slope ...... it is a wonderful old folk art / historical primitive item ..... there is no paint on the snuff box ..... all of the decoration has been cut into the wood .... the finial on the lid is wooden too remember that you are getting both treen pieces ......
