Route 66 Historical Real DOT Aluminum Road Sign Not a Cheap Reproduction ã This is a real highway sign on thick (.080) gauge aluminum. It has white 3M High Intensity Prismatic reflective sheeting and brown EC Film and black vinyl over that. It has pre-punched mounting holes in the aluminum, but the holes in the reflective sheeting on the face have not been punched out, if you want them cut out, you can easily cut them out with a utility knife. This sign is 12” x 18” and only has “route” no state.. Look at our other auctions for other states. This is a real DOT sign, it is made to current MUTCD standards. I make road signs for a living, this is exactly what I sell to DOT contractors. This sign has 3M HIP sheeting which is currently the minimum reflective for highway use. I Here comes the small print. These signs are made for construction purposes and not Art/Decoration/etc. They are made by applying the reflective sheeting to the aluminum and then the ec film and vinyl are laid over the top of that. They can and probably will have small blemishes, these are to be expected. These are not screen printed like the cute little tin signs you see in tourist traps, these are the real deal.
