The creamer is 3.5" tall and 3" wide, and the sugar bowl is 2.5" tall and 2.5" wide. Both pieces are made of a sturdy stoneware and are glazed in a lovely blue-brown fade. The creamer has a simple spout and handle, and the sugar bowl has a raised lid. Pearson was a world traveler, musician, archaeologist, author, lecturer, and philanthropist. She offered art classes at her home in the 1930s and then in 1934 built a kiln on her property. Rowantrees pottery grew to become an important commercial pottery that employed and inspired many Blue Hill residents. The pottery became widely known throughout the world for its distinctive hand-thrown stoneware, which was often decorated with simple geometric patterns or landscapes.
