Roy Turner Durrant attended Camberwell School of art, 1948-1952. Influenced by Keith Vaughan and John Minton. In the very early 1950s developed from figuration to abstraction. He was influenced by european abstractionists. As well as painting and exhibiting he was director of the Heffer Gallery, 1963-1976. Showed with the Free Painters and sculptors, of which he was a Fellow, the New English Art Club, and the RA from 1950. Exhibited regularly including the Loggia Gallery and the Belgrave Gallery and the Fine Art Society in 2008. A book Roy Turner Durrant by Peter Davies has been recently published by Sansom & Co. Catalogue of over 40 works, illustrated in colour, for the retrospective exhibition in 2011. 16 pages.
