A lovely example of Royal Crown Derby imari border pattern 8450, which features the border of the very popular pattern 1128 ('Old Imari') but with an inner filligree ornamentation (thereby differing from the modern 'Old Imari Border'). This is a dessert-sized plate, diameter 22.8cm (9 inches), which doubles as a mini-tray: it would originally have been used for delivering glasses or a cup and saucer. The white area is entirely flat, with the decorated edges curling upwards. The condition is virtually mint, with no wear to the gilding and pattern, and I can only find a few very light and superficial scratches to the glaze, un-noticeable. The base bears the Osmaston Road factory mark, the date cypher for 1927, an impressed mark DERBY followed also by the date cypher for 1926/7 (both dots), and near the base rim the pattern number 8450 and two blue painter's marks 'A' and 'B'. PLEASE SEE MY OTHER LISTINGS for additional Royal Crown Derby plates I am selling. I’ll combine postage for buyers of multiple lots.
