Originally founded as Chelsea Works Factory by Andrew Planche in the 1700's, its bone china quickly rose to prominence so by 1890 was renamed Royal Crown Derby by a decree from Queen Victoria . This is a beautiful mid-century Bread & Butter Plate in the Olde Avesbury Pattern. The scalloped Chelsea shape is 6 1/4" in diameter and heavily decorated in the typical Imari palette with Asian pheasants and accompanying foliage. The plate is in excellent condition, no damage or loss to the gold. It is marked in red with the Royal Crown Derby Crown mark, X dating this plate to 1947 (see photo). This plate makes a nice display piece or an addition to any set of china. Is currently listed at for $45.
