Up for auction is a large cup and saucer (perhaps a chocolate mug) in a gold only design that is very similar to the OLDE AVESBURY pattern by Royal Crown Derby. The saucer is approximately 6 1/8" in diameter and has a 3" diameter (1 1/4" deep) depression that the cup fits into. The cup is approximately 3 1/2" in diameter (at the top and 3" at the bottom) and 3 7/8" deep. The handle on the cup is a spiral/vine shape that separates into two pieces at the top. The backstamp on both pieces is the Royal Crown Derby backstamp used between 1964 and 1975. The date code on both pieces is XXIX (for 1966). T is no pattern name or design number on either piece. This set belonged to my mother until she died a few years ago, and she took very good care of it. T are a few flecks of gold paint under the glaze at the bottom of the cup, but t are no chips, cracks or crazing. I would rate this set as being in excellent condition. I am happy to combine shipping for multiple items. Thanks for looking, and good luck in the auction! Many thanks to the two people who let me know that this is the GOLD AVES pattern and that the set is called a trembleuse.
