SCARCE ROYAL DOULTON KINGSWARE NIGHT WATCHMAN WHISKEY JUG WITH STERLING STOPPER, LONDON, 1904 You are bidding on a scarce Royal Doulton Kingsware whiskey jug with a figural face forming the neck and the hat concealing a corked stopper. This is called Night Watchman and it is 8-3/8" tall and about 5-1/4" in diameter. It has a black image on the chocolate colored ground of the night watchman walking along the street in his cloak, carrying a lantern and having a long pole over his shoulder. This is hard to see in the photos because of the high reflective glaze. The jug has a sterling silver chain and stopper that is marked for London, Sterling and date coded to 1904. The jug has a British Registry mark also dating it to 1904. I do not think the sterling has ever been polished and I didn't attempt it myself. There are no chips, no cracks, no repairs and no other damage to this fine piece of English pottery. There is crazing to the glaze, a normal occurrence.
