Old Royal Navy officers cap with it's tin carrying case. Brass nameplate is engraved "Lieut. H.F.J. Rowley, R.N." Very interesting for display, with wire handle on top and clasp closure on bottom. Sits well. Black paint is evenly scratched all over the surface. Case is solid and fits together well. Brass plate is tight. Hat is marked inside "6 7/8" and is in passable to poor shape; probably wouldn't pass muster or inspection by the Admiralty. No feather, although it has the look and style of a hat that should have one. Points are frayed and t is a medallion or crest missing from the ribbon (see photo). We have displayed the case in our home for many years as a curiosity and no one has ever opened the case to try on the hat. Still very wearable and would look great with your hand stuffed between the buttons of your waistcoat, ala Napoleon. Overall dimensions of case are 11x8x18
