Royal Worcestershire Regiment Rare WW2 Slouch Hat 2nd Infantry Division 1943 Please refer to all the photographs Superb original and historic slouch made by Failsworth Hats Ltd 1943, it has its original division badge and regiment division badge,it has its original leather chin strap and dated leather head liner and war department arrow, it is in excellent condition for its age, and retains its original sweat marks to band and liner from Jungle use, however there are no holes or dmage The Royal Worcestershire Regiment served in Burma during WW2 as the 2nd and 7th Battalion In Burma, uniforms and equipment were stripped back to the bare basics. Simple, lightweight uniforms and slouch hats were worn. Hats not only protected the soldier from the rain, but also from snakes and spiders dropping on them from the jungle. HISTORY In 1939 the Battalion was in India . Until 1942 they guarded the North-West Frontier. Then Japan entered the war and swept through Burma and the Pacific. Fearing invasion, the Battalion moved to the south-east coast. In February 1944 the Battalion moved up to the Burmese border, and in November crossed it and entered the war. After fighting to relieve the Allied posts at Kohima and Imphal, they began the long march south. Fighting through thick, oppressive jungle, they pushed the toughened and experienced
