Premium Marbles presents "American Beauty" This marble is an RPC original #864 "American Beauty" is a huge clear marble with a rose flower implosion. The rose petals are made from a custom color I mixed myself using cheery red, cobalt blue, and a touch of yellow. The flower is rising from a group of five leaves also made from a custom mixed color of greens. Annealing : All of my marbles are annealed. Annealing is the process of 'baking' the marble at 1065 degrees F. for about 30 minutes, then slowly reducing the temperature. This process relieves the stress inside of the marble produced from the heat of the flame. Marbles that have been annealed are stronger, chip resistant, and very rarely crack. Please note: No molds are used when I make marbles. Because of this, each marble is truly unique. Hand-spun marbles at times have a slightly irregular shape. Rather than a defect, it is a sign that the marble was truly hand-spun. Many handmade marbles also have a pontil (punty) mark. This is a mark left by the glass rod that was melted onto the marble so I could hold it in the flame and spin it to get the round shape. This rod is called a pontil (punty). A pontil (punty) mark also assures the collector of a handspun marble. I have included many pictures so you can examine the marble from all angles. Payment Paypal is accepted for all purchases. About the Artist I have been a glass artist for over 25 years working with stained glass, fused glass, and flameworking. I work in a small studio in Northeastern PA. All of my marbles are made with the highest quality Pyrex glass. All colors are made with high quality Pyrex colored rods. Fuming is a common method used to add color to marbles. .999 silver or 24-carat gold is often used to add color and depth to a piece. In very light coats, silver produces whites, greens, and blues.
