Description: Offered is a very interesting old real photo postcard from Tacoma, Washington that may date from around the year 1912. What makes this card so interesting is that it actually shows a high school class in the field with their teacher learning map making. The teacher is standing with a transit theodolite while his students take notes in notebooks. One boy is holding a surveying marker pole. The class is composed of 16 boys and 2 girls. All of the boys are wearing ties of some kind.It is interesting to note that all of the students, except the boy holding the pole, have their eyes down focusing on their notebooks and not on the photographer! The card is captioned in capital letters in the center foreground: MAP WORK, 9B-PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY CLASS, MR. HOATS - LINCOLN PARK HIGH SCHOOL, TACOMA. Under the girls is the number: #28. The name of the photographer is not given on the card. The card has an NOKO stamp box on the back and was never mailed. Size: The postcard is 3 & 1/2" high by 5 & 1/2" wide. Condition: The corners have some very slight wear and t is a short crease across the lower right corner. T is a short tear on the left side 1 & 3/8" up from the lower left corner. The tear is ¼" long. Above the t is an irregular shaped area that is shiny on the card that is ½" high by 3/8" wide at the widest place. T is a small read more
