Ruby in Kyanite Tumblestone 'A' Grade Ruby is a red corundum, an aluminium oxide with a hardness of 9. The colour is due to the presence of chromium. Kyanite is an aluminium silicate with a hardness of 5 to 7 and a triclinic crystal system. Kyanite is usually found in bladed crystals in the colours blue, green, white, brown or black. This stone is from India and is amazingly a mixture of the two minerals, measures approx. 2.8 cms.
