This is a Ruby Red Glass... medium sized Berry Bowl... in the "Pinwheel" pattern... made by the "new" L. E. Smith Glass Company. I identify this as a "new" Smith Glass piece because the factory has just recently reopened... and this Berry Bowl is from one of it's first "turns" of glass. They are calling this glass color and finish their... "Ruby Red Luster". The color in this Bowl fades in and out of intensity. In some areas it's an exceptionally deep dark Ruby Red... and in other areas I see patches of a light Golden Amber. Should we get "reckless" and call this Amberina Glass???... Or was this just a "fluke" in production that has given us these results???... The Carnival Glass finish adds fleeting rainbows of color... and sparkle and luster across the surface of the Bowl. It stands just a bit over 3 and 3/4 inches tall... 7 and ½ inches across the top... and appears to be in very nice condition. The "body glass" is fairly thick on this Bowl... reminiscent of glassware made by the Imperial Glass Company... and advertised as... "substantial enough for everyday use". Even though it is unmarked as to maker... we do know L. E. Smith Glass Company made this Bowl. The Company is under new management... and from what I understand... with all new employees.
