This is a stunning...tall and stately...Ruby Red Carnival Glass vase...in the old "Fan and File" pattern. This pattern is also known as Zippers" by some collectors. This beauty stands an impression 10 inches tall...4 and 3/4 inches across at the top....and 4 inches across the broad "sar-burst" embossed base. This nice wide base is designed to support the largest of bouguets without being "tipsy". The vase appears to be in excellent condition. Fleeting rainbows of color seem to "dance" over the surface of this gorgeous Vase...highlighting all the numerous "nooks and crannies" in the elaborate Fan and File" pattern...and adding sparkle and luster to an already outstanding piece. And this exceptionally deep Ruby Red body glass is one of the very best glass colors on which to "show-off" this display of Carnival Colors. Ruby Red has always been one of the most expensive glass color to produce...and it remains so even to this day. As a result collectors of this glass color have to go the "extra mile"...and usually pay a premium price...to bask in the pleasures this glass color divulges to our sense of sight!!!... We've had other pieces of this old "Fan & File" pattern in the shop before... and identified them as having come from the now closed doen L. E. Smith Glass Company. However...being that this Vase is unmarked as to maker...and feeling guite sure it did not come from SDmith Glass...I believe I'll not make a quess as to its origin. So for now...this Vase...like with so many other outstanding pieces of glassware we've encountered over the years...remain unidenti!!!... I'm not surprised when I come across an unmarked piece like this. Probably fifty percent of all glassware exists without a "makers mark". At one point in time...many of the glass makers got their heads together and agreed that they would not mark their products...so the sales personal would represent...not just a simple company...but many companies...and carry a much wider range of items. This provided many glass markers with much wider market...better exposure to retailers...and the buyer pubkic. However...this agreement didn't work out too well with some of the more affluent makers...their higher quality items were being represented alongside lesser quality pieces...that were being quality makers...and after just a few years...the agreement fell apart. So it's not uncommon today..to find pieces made by some of the top quality glass makers...but without their identenfying marks. From that hand formed "trumpet" style" top rim...down through the cascades of colors...to the broad star burst imprinted base...it's going to require a prett y spectacular bouguet of flowers...to keep a viewers eyes on the flowers...and off this stunning Ruby Red Carnival Glass Vase !!!...The array of colors that "float" across the surface of this tantalizing Vase are nothing less than...stunning!!!...
