LOT 320 Seller's Estimate: USD 100 - 200 (RUSSIA.) Shishkin, Ivan. [Birch trees.] [Prize for the Society for the Encouragement of Artists, 1871] Etching. 610x470 mm, wide margins; few edge tears, marginal foxing and light dampstaining. Leipzig: F. A. Brockhaus, [1871?] Shishkin was one of the foremost Russian landscape painters of the 19th century and was particularly famous for his forest scenes. While his paintings sell for good money with some frequency, etchings by him (or depicting his work) appear to be quite scarce on the market.
