This early Art Deco Russian Amber Ring measures just a tad over size 6 (USA measure) and its eclectic lines include the large oval cabochon cut amber double ringed in sweeping separate loops with cathedral arched sides. Ring measures 1.25" vertically, 7/8" horizontally and a tad over 1/2" in depth. Its massive speckled setting steps upward from its base frame with rounded edge. Extending at sides are the arched bridges which sash inward and outward and within edges ~ attaching to the inner oval frame which masterfully becomes part of the 1/8" shank itself. Craftmanship in this early Art Deco period was one which had served as the template for the copy cats of days following. But never could they copy the original materials, the slight unevenness of detail (due to the casting of the frame itself) which was created with rather primitive tools in its day of the early 20's in the freezing city of St. Petersburg, Russia. Silver was at a premium and thus the silver content of this is slightly below the 800/1000 and is assigned its mark of 725/1000 at interior edge of shank. Other hallmarks are very worn but the main one appears at outer edge of shank ... this being the MET for the precious metal content of the ring.
