A Russian Cloth Doll from The Museum of Fine Arts - Boston. Alexandra, Moscow, 28" Tall. Woman Festive Clothes, Nizhni Novgorod Province, Mid-end of the XIXth Century, Design by Sasha Kukinova. The Doll's Face is Embroidered, and the Top Front of the Head Dress is Gold with Bead Work and Pearls. The Dark Blue of the Skirt and Head Dress is a Pattern on Pattern. The Vest Appears to be Crocheted and has Knots fo Closures, Fringe on the Bottom, and Straps. The Sleeves on the Blouse are Beautifully Beaded. There is a White Serpentine Trim Running Down the Length of the Skirt. The Boots are Possibly Crocheted with Burlap Tops and String Ties up to the Calf. There is a Long Beaded Necklace. This is a Very Unusual and Interesting Doll.
