Russian Czarist Period Silver Cloisonne Salt Cellar Sterling-1268 You are bidding on an Antique Solid Silver Russian Czarist Period Cloisonne Salt Cellar (c1896). We have been privileged to be the exclusive market source for one of the largest collections of Salt Cellars in the world. The Cloisonne finishing appears to be either fine stones or intricate enameling. According to Tardy's "International Hallmarks on Silver" the marking on this Cellar indicate a manufacturing date from 1896 to 1907. The secondary mark, lower is either a district or manufacturer. Russia did not have any standard that included the Sterling fineness of 0.925. The standard was the Zolotnik and this one at 84 is close to a fineness of 0.875. This Antique Solid Silver Russian Czarist Period Cloisonne Salt Cellar is identified with the 84 to the right of the Hellenic figure, and artist mark. Purchased at an Estate Sale this Open Salt Cellar is in very good condition.
