This lovely costume jewelry necklace was originally from Russia, beginning of the 1900s. This is an estate piece from Memphis, and if it could talk it would surely tell a very interesting story! It was brought to the US by a Russian emigrÃf© during the revolution in Russia, and passed on through the family, but that is the only part of the story I know. Length of necklace loop is 31 inches, pendant drop is 3.5 inches including the cabochon piece. 59 malachite beads of varying sizes wire strung with decorative silver metal beads and links. The cabochon set white metal pendant has 7 small malachite cabochons set in bezel settings and 6 faceted emerald color crystals set in bezels. The assymmetric design of this piece is typical of Art Nouveau. This piece appears to be a necklace designed for a costume party, as it was put together from other pieces. The terminating drop of 3 malachite beads with a barrel link is wired onto the central piece with a fine gauge copper wire. 60 grams. Dimensions: 19.25 inches long (strands in loop, this dimension is approx 1/2 of the actual lenght), pendant is 2.38 inches wide. Weight: 13 ounces.
