A russian silver icon.It measures 9.5inches by 12 inches.The back is lined in a red velvet and the front is made of a white silver metal.It depicts a roman soldier spearing a beast standing opposite a lady with a golden halo,could be the mother mary.Above in each corner are angles with golden halos.There is a small bird hovering over a small town in the middle.The border has a scroll decoration .Each corner has a mount decorated in gilt and enamels.There are three attached gilt halos on the two angels and the mother mary.All figures have liittle painted faces inset behind.It is about an inch thick in depth.I am not sure of the age but was told by the previous owner it was from the the 1950s.I can see when hanling it, it has age.It is a truley stunning thing.Any question feel free to aske.Thankyou for looking.
