Soviet bayonet for SVT-40 Tokarev rifle, ORIGINAL WW2 issue piece in excellent condition. Comes 100% complete with original scabbard and original frog in leather. Overall length 14 ½ " (37 cm). The 9½ inch long, fullered blade shows many quality control markings including the “OTK” inspection stamp and the star maker mark indicating Tula Arsenal manufacturer. Also shows quality control stamps to the pommel. The pommel has functioning retaining mechanism; the grip is in high quality hardwood showing stamped inventory number "1620". This perfect WW2 collectible item has rich history: the SVT rifle was Red Army’s most advanced infantry weapon when it was first introduced in 1938, just before WW2. Its 1940 model (SVT-40) was made more reliable and the best RKKA units were equipped with it, as opposed to the old Mosin-Nagant rifles given to regular Soviet infantry. During the war against Germany the SVT-40 became too complex and expensive to manufacture in huge quantities, so priority was given to cheap PPSh and PPS submachine-guns. The SVT rifle remained a prized weapon to the Red Army soldier throughout the war and with added sniper scope it became legendary as standard equipment for most Soviet snipers.
