Folio, contemporary calf expertly rebacked, gilt-lettered spines with title Rycaut's History of the Turks. The first collected edition by Rycaut. Illustrated with 27 engraved plates. Includes the sixth edition of Richard Knolles' Turkish History, which extends halfway into vol. 2. This is followed with the additions to Knolles' text by Rycaut, the entire text of Rycaut's Present State of the Ottoman Empire, as well as his revised history of the Turkish Empire up to 1677, and with a continuation by Sir Roger Manley for the period 1678-1686. The second part of Rycaut's History of the Turkish Empire was published as the third volume of this set. Some minor tears and minor soiling; binding restored and hinges reinforced; otherwise a fine set.
