To my knowledge, this listing represents a complete run of the unusual, and interesting, so called "Metalic" first day covers/souvenirs from the Ryukyu Islands. The entire listing encompasses a total of 11 scans. One of the best, and most comprehensive, articles I am aware of concerning these "metalic" covers appeared in the July 1988 issue of From The Dragon's Den , the official journal of the Ryukyu Philatelic Specialist Society (RPSS). At that time, collectors were able to verify the existence 16 covers having been prepared for Ryukyu Scott #119 through #135 - a total of 17 stamps within which #122 and #123 appeared on the same cover. With the exception of #122 and #123 which were on a letter sized envelope, the remainder were on very heavy card stock which had been folded to open up like a greeting card. The outside front cover of the typical card stock FDC is shown at scan 1. The inside left is at scan 2 while the inside right with the FDC tied stamp and the namesake engraved plate is at scan3. The plate appears to be brass with engraving to mimic the companion Ryukyu postage stamp. Many of the engraved lines are filled with black while figures or structures are usually filled-in with color to match the companion stamp.
