S.S. REPUBLIC SHIPWRECK SALVAGE CERAMIC INK WELL WITH STAND & CD. The ink well is 2" tall with a 2" diameter. In 1865 the side wheel steamship SS Republic was on route to New Orleans with a treasure trove of gold, silver and trade supplies to help rebuild the war torn South after the Civil War. Tragically the ship was overcome by a hurricane off the coast of Georgia and sank to the bottom of the ocean where it rested untouched for 139 years until its discovery in 2004. This beautiful ceramic ink well was recovered from that shipwreck . An outstanding historical artifact for any collection. Satisfaction guaranteed. 30 day returns if the item is not as described.
