#S2 Gus Grissom Memorial Combo by Monogram + 2 collector patches NEW SEALED MERCURY & GEMINIMonogram Gus Grissom Memorial Combo with Two Collectors Patches model kit (#85-4166). Kit was issued in 1999 to commemorate the recovery of Liberty Bell 7 mercury capsule from the floor of the Atlantic Ocean. The Liberty Bell 7 was flown by Gus Grissom and is the only US spacecraft ever lost following a successful mission. The explosive bolts that blow open the hatch detonated prematurely, and the helicopter rescuers were unable to lift the waterlogged spacecraft from the sea. Also included is the Gemini capsule Molly Brown in which Gus Grissom was the Command Pilot. This kit is a reissue of the Revell kit and includes the Mercury and Gemini space capsules in 1/48 scale. These are some of the better detailed models of these two spacecraft with each including the astronaut figures.
