This unique RHINO piece was made in the city of Indore, India. This location has been a major center for these types of pieces (e.g. leather covered animals) for years. This form of art has been practiced by artisans for decades who have very obviously mastered the complicated and laborious process. First, a body frame is created by using thin wires and bamboo shavings. Then, a thick layer of Papier-mâché paste is applied to the body. A master craftsman then sculpts every little detail of the Rhino's body. It is left to dry for several days. After this period, a layer of genuine leather is stretched over the body and hand-painted. The end result is nothing short of stunning. It looks and even feels realistic. We are very proud to be able to bring this unique art piece to the Ebay community. The Rhino up for bidding is one of the more popular items in our Leather Animal Collection. It measure 13" long and 7" high and weighs about 1.5 lbs. It has glass eyes .
