Sal "The Barber" Maglie Today's Special: "A Close Shave" The offered item is an authentic Rawlings ONL Official National League (Charles S Feeney, President) baseball signed by former Brooklyn Dodgers Sal Maglie, Carl Furillo & Cal Abrams. While all 3 signatures are indeed desirable and scarce, and all 3 players have been deceased for 11 or more years, the Maglie autograph is a true gem. Rarely have I seen Maglie sign a ball with his famous nick-name "The Barber". "Close shaves" were the specialty of "The Barber". Maglie had a career record of 119-62 with 25 shutouts and an ERA of 3.15. He completed 93 of the 232 games in which he was the starter. He pitched in the 1951, 1954 & 1956 Worlds Series. Besides his stint with the Dodgers, Maglie spent most of his career with the New York Giants. He also played for the Cleveland Indians, the NY Yankees and the St Louis Cardinals. Each of the mint autographs was signed in blue ball point pen. Each of the autographs was carefully inspected by JSA, James Spence Authentication, the former read more
