Sam Hyde Harris Original Oil Painting California Plein Air Desert Scene Description: 18” x 24” Oil on board painting Hand Signed in pencil on the lower left and again on the back with incription, framed and mated. I have had this painting several years, purchased from an art dealer selling for the estate of one of Sam Hyde Harris’ lifelong friends. The photo attached is of Sam Hyde Harris (on the right) presenting to his friend this painting as a birthday gift (a copy will come with the painting). It is inscribed in pencil on the back “Rain Passage” “ To Dorothy & Fred on the occasion of their birthdays. Wishing them well and everything, from tow OLD PALS, Marion and Sam Hyde Harris, dated Aug 27, 72” . This painting is guaranteed as an original painting by Sam Hyde Harris. Paintings of this size often reach in excess of $5000. in local auctions. I would rather sell directly to a collector and save us both the auction premiums. Artist's BIO: Sam Hyde Harris (1889-1977) California landscape painter, born in England immigrated to the US with his family in 1904 and settled in Los Angeles . He studied under Hanson Puthuff, Will Foster & Lawrence Murphy as well as others.
