Santa Clara Black Pottery Artist : Daniel Begay Dimensions : 5 1/4" tall x 4 1/2" wide AMAZING! That's the best way to describe this piece. The black polished pot was all hand coiled, polished, and carved by Santa Clara artist Daniel Begay, son of well known artis Harrison Begay. His work is amazingly similar to his fathers work. This piece is carved with intricated designs deep into the clay. There is a large bear on the front of the pot, surrounded by geometric designs. The designs are polished a deep black with a mirror like finish. There are multiple sections left with a matte finish, giving the piece depth on the designs. The pot is in great condition. Daniel has been creating since the late 1990's. He's only in his early 20's and as you can see if he's anything like his dad he will have a long career ahead of him. He does clean lines and evenly spaced designs. This piece is free of scratches, nicks, or cracks. The bottom is signed and dated by Daniel.
