This is a SARGENT No 710 Auto-Set Smooth plane in good condition for its age. The plane is 10" long with a 2" wide cutter marked SARGENT 710. This would be a Stanley No 4 size plane for comparison. The plane still retains much of its original japanning and is free of rust. The wood is solid and has no cracks. The SARGENT name is behind the front knob and on the cutter, the patent date of Jan 12,15 and the Number 710 is cast behind the frog.
