A very nice example of a E.C. Atkins Economy Line Saw. This saw's plate has been LIGHTLY cleaned A perfect user condition saw. This is a professional grade saw, and should last generations. Made around the 1930's - 1940's The etching is faint, but reads "Cast Steel, Economy, Made In The USA. There isn't very much info online referencing "Economy" saws, but the few bits of info I found suggested that E.C. Atkins made the Economy line of saws to compete with Disstons Keystone line of saw. I have not seen another saw like this one on the internet, so I'm assuming its a fairly rare saw. Handle has light scratches and normal wear and tear from years of use, but is still structurally sound. The previous owner, looks to have carved the wheat patterns into the handle himself. The handle has been oiled and waxed. This saw blade measurements are :20 2/8" Long 2" @ toe 4 10/16" just before the handle or just shy of 5" from the top of the handle to the bottom of tooth. Blade is straight and true, zero kinks or bends Teeth have been freshly sharpened, and ready to go. Sharpening method: I sharpen one round, then joint the teeth. This is followed by another round of sharpening, and then the teeth are set. Then a test cut is made to make sure the saw is cutting how it should. If the teeth are over set, I stone the saw until it cuts perfectly. read more
