This is a very unique Saxon style "Seax," or short sword. It is NOT some cheesy Pakistani-made replica. It is a heavy, well-balanced blade handmade by a craftsman in New York (the maker's mark "H3" is hand-etched on the tang and the hilt). The blade has a rat-tail tang with the pommel screwing onto a short threaded bolt. The grip is wood and the pommel and "cross guard" appear to be brass. The pommel and guard have intertwined Celtic or Viking designs on them that are difficult to make out in the picture. The scabbard is leather. The edge of the blade is not sharp, however the point is, and the blade is extremely rigid. The sword is in very good condition. Overall length is 17.75", with the blade about 11.5". The sword weighs 1.2 lbs, and the scabbard weighs .4 lbs.Buyer pays actual shipping and handling cost.Anglo-Saxon, Sutton Hoo, Viking, Germanic, medieval, middle ages, SCA, renaissance, knife.
