Who Says Animals Don't Think? is approximately 5" high and 5" wide - completed June 2011. In northern Ireland, a farmer was wondering how his cows got out of the stable each night. Then he discovered one cow lifted the gate bar with her tongue and they all walked out. About Chaye: Chaye Sara Arotsky has been recognized and featured in the Eleventh Edition of Patricia Smith’s Doll Values book (1995, page 203, “Doll Artists”). An article also appeared in the March/April 1996 edition of Barbie Bazaar (page 38). Chaye’s style can best be described as “primitive folk art.” Each sculptured figure is unique and takes weeks to complete. Her tools are the pointed and round ends of a metal nut-picker and her own fingers. She uses a pliable compound for sculpting and acrylic paints for the finish. Chaye has been handicapped for the past 31 years with the late after effects from Guillian-Barre Syndrome and is confined to a wheelchair. After 23 years, January 2008 saw the end of Chaye’s collectable shop in Levittown, Long Island , NY where she sold her special creations along with old dolls and toys. Now homebound, age 83, and with a few intermittent hospital "vacations," Chaye still manages to create one-of-a-kind sculptured figures with great difficulty but it is her pleasure to remain a practicing artisan.
