This sandstone sculpture can be dated to the Third intermediate period, 25. dynasty 747-656 B.C. A huge falcon headed figure (Qebehsenuef) with remnants of red paint. Qebehsenuef is one of Horus 4 sons, who protects the intestines. With it's height of over 160 mm. and it's weight of c. 950 grams and extremely impressive antiquity. Provenance: This canopic jar comes from a large and old swedish private collection (Jacobsen collection) sold recently at the largest antique auction house in Scandinavia at their anual De Luxe auction. The antiquities from this collection were all purchased during the 1950s at Viktoria Lindströms Antikhandel, Stockholm.
