Here is an outstanding 1930’s era - scarab pattern – top logo – hotel / railroad silver plate type ladies demitasse spoon made by the William A. Rogers Silver Co. – Oneida Ltd. This demi spoon is the heavyweight type Steamship, Railroad, and Hotel Silver. This spoon features the highly attractive and very desirable Egyptian scarab beetle design on the front that is embossed (front only). It does not have the design to the back. The spoon would have been used with ladies afternoon tea, sugar, mustard, etc., but is classified as a demi spoon. This would have been used in a high-end hotel or restaurant and used in connection with the establishment’s hotel china and glassware type serving items for table service. This spoon was located with other pieces of hotel silver years ago and was used in a hotel / restaurant capacity. It was heavy tarnished and was painstaking cleaned. This pattern is also very similar to that used by the J.M. Murphy Co. that operated railroad station eating houses along the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad and the Erie Railroad, which some of these locations included Chicago Junction – Willard Ohio, Grafton West Virginia, Wheeling West Virginia, Zanesville West Virginia, and Relay Maryland. A wonderful addition to your Home Furnishing / Interior Design, Wm. Rogers Flatware, or Oneida Scarab Collection. The digital images read more
