Lid of cover is sloping and sits in depression in underplate which has a wavy edge Triangular chip one corner of lid, tiny nicks another corner and a short, curling hairline in a third corner. Old triangular chip in the corner of bottom of lid, tiny nicks to another corner and a short hairline in a third corner. None affect appearance and they’re not uncommon or surprising to a piece of this age where the lid has been lifted and set down countless times over at least a century and a half, but they are there.
