Here's a scarce antique wind-up phonograph, one of the earliest Victrolas produced by the Victor Talking Machine Company in Camden ... the model VV-X started out as a tabletop machine, sold only in 1911 and 1912 and retailing for $75. But that model eventually became one of Victor’s more popular sellers as an upright floor model, and the version offered here was the first of those, produced only in 1912 and 1913, with the “Spider Leg” type cabinet and retailing for between $60 and $75. The company only produced about 15,000 of those before discontinuing that open-bottom style in favor of the more typical Victrola cabinet, with the closed bottom holding several shelves for record storage. This is an excellent example of this scarce machine, and is all-original down to the turntable felt. The weathered oak finish is in fine condition - and itself an extremely uncommon finish - with a some light wear and a faint ring on the lid, but nothing at all offensive. The two spring motor runs quietly the Exhibition reproducer has been rebuilt and adjusted for optimal performance. The nickel plating on the tonearm, reproducer, brake, turntable, knobs, etc., is shiny and bright. This is a great running, great sounding example of a pretty rare machine in a very uncommon finish. You won't be disappoint - in-person inspections are more than welcome. read more
